It's working like a charm.
The first month of a 'Canadian money at par' gimmick for Las Vegas hotels, gambling and drinks lured in 15,000 Canadian visitors and generated more than 2,700 room bookings.
Back in January, three Downtown Las Vegas hotels and casinos -- The D, Circa and Golden Gate -- announced the 'At Par' promotion that will run through Aug. 31.
The 'At Par' deal applies to hotel rooms, up to $500 in slot play and drinks at BarCanada at The D Las Vegas, Overhang at Circa and Bar Prohibition! at Golden Gate.

With the Canadian dollar worth only 73 cents US, the 'At Par' special nets Canucks a 27% savings.
"At Par has created real momentum with our Canadian guests right out of the gate," said Derek Stevens, the owner of The D, Circa and Golden Gate.
Stevens has Canadian connections and wanted to do something to keep the flow of Canadians to Vegas going.
Stevens' dad attended the University of Toronto.
The family lived in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and visited nearby Windsor regularly and he even created a Canadian-themed hockey bar at The D Las Vegas called BarCanada.

The brutal Canada-US exchange rate combined with some Canadians shunning travel to the US in this anti-Trump, elbows-up era has prompted a 25% plunge in Canadians visiting Sin City.
In the past, about 1.4 million Canadians a year arrived in Vegas for vactions or conventions.
A 25% plummet means 350,000 fewer Canadians annually, for a total of 1.15 million.
Now, the 15,000 Canadians enticed in the first month to Vegas by the At Par promo doesn't fill the 350,000 gap, but it's a start for the three hotels.
Plus, there are more than five months more to go for the At Par program.

The D, Circa and Golden Gate are in Downtown Las Vegas along the gambling mecca's original Fremont Street, which has its own vibe and fame.
They are not on the new and more famous Las Vegas Strip where well-known and expensive hotels and casinos are, such as Caesars Palace, the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Venetian and Fountainbleau.
A room at the Golden Gate start at $64 for a weeknight, more on the weekend.
At The D, $69 on a weeknight, more on the weekend.

And, at the more luxurious Circa, $169 on a weeknight, more on the weekend.
The three hotels are also touting some more Canadian tie-ins.
Canadians can purchase tickets At Par to Canadian DJ Excision's performances at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Centre April 24 and 25.
Canadian rock band Finger Eleven will perform at the free Fremont Street Experience that's part of the Downtown Rocks Summer Concert Series on June 27, just a few days before Canada Day on July 1.
