93 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Grenville are preparing for a busy period of community’s service and remembrance activities, including Poppy Campaign fundraising, participation in the field of Crosses, the Field off Crosses Candlelight Vigil and Remembrance Day Ceremonies throughout Kelowna. This year is particularly special as Grenville is approaching its 100th Anniversary, a milestone that will be celebrated next year. The Corps is also continuing to grow and is working toward a goal of reaching 100 cadets for their 100th Anniversary year. Cadets, ages 12 – 18, volunteer hundreds of hours in the community each year while developing leadership, sailing, citizenship, and teamwork skills. This fall alone, cadets have participated in regional sailing programs, instructor training, boating certification courses and upcoming regattas, all while preparing to support Remembrance Day activities across the city. I will be happy to see the cadets as I have been asked to lay a wreath at the Remembrance Day Ceremonies this year in Kelowna City Park.
